I was watching a video about Boris Johnson when he was major and how he was getting paid like 125k a year to write an article on a Sunday and how he did it for relaxation. Waking up on a Sunday and 'knocking off' some writing like it was nothing, a form of therapy if you will, and I thought, well, I don't expect to get paid for writing because my writing is so poor, but if I could take anything from this human being, anything at all, it might be that I see if I can write a blog a day, without any expectations other than I would be writing things down. And this is the first of these blogs.
I intend to 'knock them off' in the morning without any editing or really any prior thought at all, and I would see if they could, indeed, be some kind of therapy in a way. I would see if they could be relaxing, at all. Perhaps, the simple act of writing something down, as the theory goes, might actually improve my writing. This is the first of these kind of experimental blogs, a timid step going forward, but a step none the less, and perhaps a journey on a road that might lead to some kind of enlightenment, and ideally, comment, discussion, back and forths and so on and so forth.
There are many things I could write about to be fair. Just yesterday I was discussing the Portuguese schooling system with someone who's politics I do not share at all. He was making the case that private schools in Portugal offered better results and better value for money, based on some report he did not share. Saying that these private schools were actually cheaper per pupil. I am not sure you could compare, or should compare, results with private vs public schools, given that families that send their children to private schools will be better off and will give their children better opportunities in life compared to all the rest which will include children from poorer backgrounds with less opportunities. Also public schools will have to offer a complete range of services for a full nation. I really don't think it's a fair comparison. Also I suspect they might even get state funding. But this blog is not about that, this blog is about this blog.
On this Morning, Sunday morning, I woke to see the Fury vs Wilder result. I am a casual boxing fan, that is to say, I casually watch Boxing, not that I am a fan of casual Boxing, because I like to watch Boxing at the highest level. OK, well that's not strictly true, I might actually watch some 'street fight' type of boxing on YouTube tbf, but overall I enjoy the professional stuff, and I can't wait to watch this third fight in full, as their second fight is one of my favourites, that's such a good fight. Also, I think Boxing should be banned, it's a violent sport which I love to watch but it's a savage one and people get hurt and killed. Also I prefer a dignified build up, where the fighters are polite and respectful to each other. You don't see these awful things said to other opponent players in any other sport for the majority of it, and if you did, it would just be so strange. Imagine Federer calling Nadal a piece of shit and that he wants to eat his family. Just not very nice at all, so strange that it's accepted in Boxing. It's wrong, Boxing is wrong and we should leave it in the past. But I am just one person, a person who casually watches Boxing as entertainment, while at the same time wanting it to be stopped.
Today also happens to be my partners birthday, and we are going out for lunch and dinner, which I look forward to a great deal.
I might even use this space as a dream diary of sorts, writing down my dreams, but probably not as they are usually quite strange.
In any case, this is the first of what might even be a short lived series in a series of blogs, daily blogs. Free of expectations, consequence or even quality control, I have actually enjoyed this very much. I have enjoyed just writing things down. If you have enjoyed reading it, well that's up to you, because that's not really the point here. Other things I have written have actually been for you, but this is not for you, no, you are not the target audience here, you might well be in the future, but not for this one, no, not for you, no no, please, stop, stop if you have anything to say. LOL seriously though if you are reading this god bless you, and know that I will always have time for you and will respond to anything you say, no worries.
